CHALLENGING DAY FOR TAKA IN MUGELLO

LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider Takaaki Nakagami will start the Italian Grand Prix from the fifth row after qualifying at Mugello. The Japanese star demonstrated good pace, but couldn’t produce a flying lap when he needed it and was unable to progress from Q1.

Sitting seventh overnight, Taka slipped out of the top 10 in FP3 after seeing his best lap chalked off for track limits. He demonstrated his race pace by posting a series of good laps to finish an impressive third in FP4 but, despite leading with less than half of the session left, had to settle for fifth in Q1, meaning 15th position on the grid for Sunday’s race.
