NAKAGAMI READY FOR MOTOGP RETURN AT BRNO
Fresh from his second place for HRC at the Suzuka 8-Hour race in Japan on Sunday, Takaaki Nakagami is back in the MotoGP fold this weekend as he continues his quest to be Rookie of the Year in the 2018 world championship.
The LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider was seriously impressive as he took second place in Japan, his first 8-hour race since victory in 2010, and will hope to channel that form as he gets back in the saddle of his RC213V at the Czech Republic Grand Prix in Brno. After four points-scoring races in a row, the Japanese rider has missed out in the last four events, but having shown massive improvements – particularly during qualifying – he and the team remain hopeful of a positive result in the central European heat this weekend.
#30 Takaaki Nakagami
“We did a one-day test here last month, a Honda private test, and we did some quite good lap times and the feeling was good. It was good for me as a rookie as it gave us extra (information) for the base setting and we can start from a good base.
“This weekend the weather forecast is quite good, so we’ll try to keep pushing and improve the feeling on the bike. Let’s see if we can make a good result, but we’re looking forward to this weekend and aim to make a good start on Friday.”
