NAKAGAMI OUT TO IMPRESS IN SEASON-ENDING VALENCIA GP

 LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider Takaaki Nakagami is hoping to sign off his debut MotoGP season in style at the Valencia Grand Prix. It has proved a steep learning curve, but the Japanese talent has demonstrated his undoubted potential on numerous occasions in 2018 and is looking to gain more valuable experience this weekend, despite the forecast of bad weather conditions at the Spanish venue.

With a lot of rain predicted to fall over the weekend, Taka is ready to use the opportunity to improve his skills in wet conditions with an eye already on the 2019 season. The 26-year-old will once again be joined in the LCR garage by Stefan Bradl in Valencia, with the German deputising for the injured Cal Crutchlow, and Nakagami is wishing his British team-mate the quickest of recoveries.

“This is the last race of the season and unfortunately the weather forecast looks really bad all weekend. But this is a good thing for me because at the moment I’m not strong enough in the wet conditions so, for the future, I want to do more laps in the wet to improve myself, also thinking about next season. It’s very important to finish well this weekend and then we have two tests in Valencia and Jerez and I’m really excited to start on a new bike with this team. The main things this weekend are to get a good result and to do my best for the LCR Honda IDEMITSU Team”.

“I’m really sad that my team-mate, Cal, is not here and we really missed him in Australia and Malaysia… the garage was a lot quieter! It was a strange feeling (not to have him in the team), but I know he is doing well and is now back at home staying with his family. He said he’ll be back for the Sepang test (in 2019), but I miss him and we’re thinking of him.”
