TAKA ON THE FOURTH ROW IN PORTIMAO
Takaaki Nakagami had to settle for a place on the fourth row following the qualifying session at the Portuguese Grand Prix. The LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider looked in good rhythm on Saturday, but saw his momentum interrupted by a fall in FP4 and ended up taking 11th position on the grid for Sunday’s race.
Sitting in 12th overnight, Taka made full use of more perfect conditions at Portimao to ease straight into Q2 by posting the 5th fastest time in FP3. He then demonstrated strong race pace in FP4 before going down at turn four, just as he had on Friday. Although he walked away uninjured, he was unable to find his best in Q2 as he finished in 11th.
