BUSY OPENING DAY FOR TAKA IN ARAGON
Takaaki Nakagami made a solid start as free practice for the Grand Prix of Aragon got underway on Friday. The LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider hovered around the top 10 all day, but admitted he had one eye on weather forecast as he looked to prepare for the remainder of the race weekend.
The Japanese star was 10th quickest in FP1 but, with rain predicted on Saturday, wanted to try different set-ups and tyre choices to give himself options ahead of qualifying. He eventually ended in 13th in FP2 and now has work to do if he is to progress to Q2 tomorrow.

“It was a really busy day for everybody, because the weather forecast looks like it will be rain first thing tomorrow. So we have to think about preparing for the qualifying lap time and the race distance. We tested medium, hard and soft tyres by the end of the sessions, so we’ve tried all the compounds which is good, but we don’t know about conditions on Sunday yet, there’s a possibility of rain or it could be dry. So we’ll prepare for all conditions and today we were thinking about Sunday’s race. FP2 was not a bad session, the position was ok, but I made some mistakes in sector three which meant I was not able to improve the lap time.”
