CHALLENGING QUALIFYING FOR TAKA AT MANDALIKA
Takaaki Nakagami endured a tough day of qualifying for the Indonesia Grand Prix as mixed conditions again made life difficult for the MotoGP class. The LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider struggled to find rhythm and will now start Sunday’s inaugural race at the Mandalika International Street Circuit from the eighth row of the grid.
Overnight rain again meant a drying track in the morning, frustratingly leaving Taka unable to challenge for automatic entry into Q2 during FP3. The Japanese star finished that session in 12th and was then 16th in FP4 as he tried out various tyre choices. Like the other Honda bikes, he could not find his best in Q1 and will look to do his best in tomorrow’s race with more mixed weather likely.
